The city of Devils Lake knows how to celebrate Independence Day! July 4, 2023, begins at 10 a.m. with the parade as the community fills “main street” from east to west to enjoy the parade entries. Many toss candy or novelty items to the children in the crowd along the way. Everyone is invited out to Roosevelt Park following the parade for a free community picnic brought to you by the combined efforts of the Devils Lake Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs. A free will offering is taken for the meal to help defray food costs. Music will be provided on the Galleger Elks Band Shell stage. The city’s fireworks display takes place at dusk in Ruger Park. The weatherman says the 4th of July this year will be a warm one, so put on some sunscreen and come out for an old fashioned Independence Day with your family, friends and neighbors!
