The week of October 4 – 10 is officially 4-H Week, 2026.
That proclamation was made in the Ramsey County Commission chambers at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23 and signed by Chairperson Blaine Volk witnessed by local 4-H youth leaders.
Volk shared some of his own experience with 4-H and said he thought that North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong would also be issuing a proclamation about 4-H Week, 2026.
4-H Week is celebrated nationally as well as locally. If residents want to participate, Monday, Oct. 5 will be Go Green Day in which participants can show 4-H pride by wearing green.
Another special day in 4-H Week will be “Thankful Thursday,” on Oct. 8, wherein participants are encouraged to recognize people and experiences from their 4-H journey.
This special week starts with the annual Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale Sunday on Sunday, Oct. 4, serving pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, juice, milk and coffee starting 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in a new location; the 4-H Hall at the Ramsey County Fairgrounds, 7823 Hwy. 19 W., Devils Lake. This is also the time to stock up on some home-baked sweets, as well as supporting local 4-H youth activities.
Tickets for the breakfast can be purchased from any Ramsey County 4-H Member, at the NDSU Extension Office in the Courthouse or the day of the event at the door.
The theme of 4-H Week, 2026 is “Beyond Ready” highlighting how 4-H equips youth with skills for the future. The participant reach is extraordinary with 6 million youth, 3,500 extension educators, 500,000 volunteers and 35 million alumni, including this reporter.
