The Nelson County Arts Council (NCAC) is hosting an Art Redux on Sept. 27, 2026. Redux is a fancy Latin word meaning “to be brought back” or “to use postpositively.”

Generous donors have gifted the council with previously purchased and original art that will be auctioned on Sunday, Sept. 27 at the Pekin Auditorium.

The art is stunning! The featured piece is by Sir Lloyd Manford Herfindahl, an American painter and illustrator born in 1922 in Minnesota. He is recognized as one of his state’s most celebrated artists.

As a student of Adolf Dehn, Herfindahl has exhibited at the Minnesota State Capitol, the Musee d’Art Moderne in Paris and internationally. He also founded the Albert Lea Art Center.

His piece of art comes with a book featuring an original letter he wrote to the original owners of the piece.

A number of other pieces will also be auctioned at this Art Redux. These are by local artists and other artists who have participated in NCAC activities. Origins of some of the other pieces are unknown. All need new owners to refresh homes and businesses.

NDAC is also publically recognizing their volunteers at this event. The generosity of these volunteers and board members makes it possible to continue to offer art opportunities for all ages.

A $10.00 entrance fee gets you into this autumn celebration, the Pekin Auditorium, begining with a 12:00 p.m. reception serving brats and hot dogs with all the fixings, baked beans, salads, bars and beverages that includes beer, wine and apple cider.

Over 50 pieces will be auctioned.
