Devils Lake Police reported the following:
Aug. 28: A 34-year-old homeless man smoking a cigarette arrived at the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center at 3:47 a.m. requesting to be taken to jail. When informed that he had no outstanding warrants, the man yelled at officers and insulted them, leading officers to forcibly remove the man from the premises. While outside, the man screamed loudly, causing a public disturbance. He was then placed under arrest. During the arrest, the man would not follow officers’ commands, passively resisting and pulling away from officers. Officers gained control and escorted the man back to jail; he was turned over to corrections staff with no further incident. He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both class B misdemeanors.
