DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – Another wave of car break-ins occurred over the weekend, as well as an attempted car theft, one stolen UTV and a vandalized patrol car.
In some instances, thieves resorted to breaking car windows to gain entry. Nevertheless, police remind all residents to lock their vehicles—ensure that all doors are locked, with windows rolled up to deter thieves.
Other standard precautions:
- Remove valuables – keep valuable items, cash or weapons in your domicile whenever possible or at least out of sight to prevent them from being seen as tempting targets.
- Park in well-lit areas – choose parking spots in well-lit and highly visible areas to reduce the likelihood of break-ins.
- Use anti-theft devices – activate car alarms or anti-theft devices if equipped to provide an additional layer of security.
- Report suspicious activity – immediately report any suspicious activity to the police to help prevent break-ins.
