Burglar leaves his infant child behind at the scene of the crime

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – According to an arrest report from the Devils Lake Police Department, a suspect is accused not only of committing burglary but also leaving his infant child behind at the scene of the crime.

On Wednesday, July 22 at approximately 5:24 p.m., 23-year-old Tyvon Griggs allegedly entered a residence while no one was there and stole a cellphone. Upon their return to their home at 5:38 p.m., the resident contacted authorities to report that they found an infant on a bed in the residence.

During an interview with police the following week, Griggs confessed to the burglary and stated that he carried his infant child while committing the crime but claimed that he left the residence with his child and didn’t leave the child behind. Griggs claimed that he gave his child to the reporting party after the burglary was committed.

Griggs was arrested on Tuesday, July 28 at 12:42 p.m. and charged with two C felonies, burglary and child neglect.
