Police are investigating the alleged theft of a generator from MC Contracting PPE that occurred in Devils Lake on Friday, July 17.
MC Contracting PPE, a company from Grand Forks, had a crew working in Devils Lake to do utilities ground work. According to the report, they were working at Highway 20 S on a stretch of ground west of the frontage road near the Ranch Steakhouse, and were utilizing their red EAMT Honda 2200 EI generator. When they progressed north, the generator was left in a spot south of them, just off the frontage road, south of the Ranch Steakhouse. When they returned, they discovered the generator was missing.
Darin Higgins, the on-site supervisor of MC Contracting, stated that he and his crew did not notice anybody take the generator, and he believes it went missing around 10-10:30 a.m. Higgins described the generator as having two additional stickers on it: a black and white team Rhino sticker, and a QR code sticker. The generator is worth approximately $1,300. Higgins said he considered not reporting the incident and writing it off as a loss, but after speaking with his bosses, they required a police report on the incident.
Police were dispatched to the scene at around 1:42 p.m. They walked the area to search for possible surveillance footage. Several nearby businesses had cameras, but none captured the incident as the theft location was out of range.
At this time, there are no known suspects, witnesses, or surveillance footage. The incident will be suspended pending further information.
