The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a crash the happened on May 8, 2026, at 4:32 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and Highway 1, Lakota, ND.
According to their report, the conditions at the time of the incident were dry and clear.
Driver No. 1, a 41 year old female from Grand Forks, N.D., driving a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe was not injured. She was wearing her seat belt at the time. Two juvenile pasengers with her were not injured, both also were wearing their seat belts.
Driver No. 2, a 93 year old male, from Lakota, ND, was driving a 2000 Buick LeSabre, also using his seat belt.
The accident happened at approximately 4:32 p.m. at the intersection of US Highway 2 and Highway 1, Lakota, ND. The Tahoe driver was traveling westbound on US 2. At the same time the Buick LeSabre was traveling northbound on North Dakota Highay 1, stopped at the northbound stop sign and continued northbound across Highway 2 failing to yield to the Tahoe.
The Tahoe struck the passenger side of the Buick in a T-bone-type collision. Driver 1 and two juvenile passengers int he Tahoe were uninjured. Driver 2 sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
Agencies that responded included the ND State Patrol, Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakota Ambulance and Rolla Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation by the ND State Patrol.
