West Fargo, ND – Barley growers in Ramsey County are being urged to participate in the election of a county representative for the North Dakota Barley Council.

All barley growers have a definite interest in the membership of the Council and are encouraged to participate in the election.

The election for Ramsey County will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. (CT) at the Knight of Columbus, 522 4th St NE, in Devils Lake, ND. The business meeting begins at 10 a.m., followed by commodity elections starting at 10:30 a.m.

Carlos Pires, NDSU Extension Soil Health Specialist, will present on soil compaction and managing postharvest ruts.

Lunch will be provided. Each person, landlord, tenant, husband and/or wife, who planted Barley in 2025 or intends to plant Barley in 2026 and who has not claimed any barley tax refund within the past year (except for duplicate payments), if present in person, is entitled to vote and is eligible to be a candidate.

The election will be conducted under the supervision of Lindsay Overmyer, County Extension Agent, NDSU Extension, Ramsey County.

Newly elected county Barley representatives from District 1 will assemble remotely via ZOOM https://ndsu.zoom.us/j/95418344250?pwd=mbnvbOYkFsKnRS6YUblc6FmsG2VUA5.1 on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 3:00 PM (CT) to elect the district’s member of the North Dakota Barley Council.

The North Dakota Barley Council was created in 1983 by legislative enactment to facilitate the production, development, marketing and promotion of barley.
