GRAND FORKS, N.D. – This November, the nonprofit healthcare organization Altru is stepping up to ensure no family in our region goes hungry during the holidays with food drives in Devils Lake and Grand Forks, offering an opportunity for the community to come together in the spirit of giving.

This year alone, the Altru Hospital and Clinic food pantry in Grand Forks has served more than 600 people, distributed 225 food baskets, and provided over 8,100 pounds of food and with the community’s help, Altru aims to have that impact grow even further.

“We don’t want our patients and their families to go hungry this holiday season,” said Altru Case Manager Courtney Caron. “With access to food assistance being cut, we want to step in and make a difference for families in our community.”

In Grand Forks, Altru Hospital and Altru Clinic will host a food drive on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Community members are encouraged to bring produce, frozen foods, and dry goods to help stock local pantries.

In Devils Lake, the Altru Clinic is collecting non-perishable food items from Nov. 3 – Dec. 17 that will be sent home with students over the holiday break. Donations such as canned fruits and vegetables, soups, and pudding packs are especially appreciated.
