According to Sgt. Robert Kennedy of the North Dakota Highway Patrol a 51-year old man from Minnewaukan was fatally injured in an accident on Highway 19 Friday morning.

According to Sgt. Robert Kennedy of the North Dakota Highway Patrol a 51-year old man from Minnewaukan was fatally injured in an accident on Highway 19 Friday morning.

At 10:18 a.m. on June 5, Greg Maier was driving his 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup east bound on North Dakota Highway 19 at an unknown speed when his vehicle left the roadway and entered the south ditch.

His vehicle then struck a utility pole causing the vehicle to rotate counter clockwise before striking a tree. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels facing east.
The accident happened approximately 1.5 miles west of Devils Lake.

Maier was transported to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, Devils Lake Ambulance and Devils Lake Rural Fire Department all responded to this accident.

It is unknown if Maier was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
