Lloyd Slusser, 91, of Devils Lake, ND, formerly Cando, ND, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND.

Lloyd Slusser, 91, of Devils Lake, ND, formerly Cando, ND, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, November, 6 at Cando Lutheran Church with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Cando. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 5 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Music will be by Catherine Anfinson and Roberta Mundahl. Military Honors will be provided by the Hal Parker Post #79 Cando American Legion and North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.

Lloyd Chester Slusser was born to Chester and Ruth (Ransier) Slusser on May 15, 1923 at the Ransier home in Maza, ND.  He attended primary school in Maza and graduated from Cando High School in 1941.  Lloyd volunteered for the Navy in 1943 during World War II and served for 33 months.  After his military service, Lloyd married Cordelia Sonstelie in 1947 at Cando Lutheran Church.  They farmed for 43 years until they retired in 1978 and moved from the farm to Cando.  They remained there for 25 years while also enjoying 10 winters in Mesa, AZ.  In 2003 they moved to Devils Lake.

Lloyd served on township, church, bowling, fair and Cando school boards.  His hobbies included bowling, golfing, fishing, woodworking, stained glass, reading, sports, playing cards and dancing.
He is survived by daughters, Julie (Allan) Wood, Cando, JoAnn (Dave) Heisler, Devils Lake; sons, Jim (Sallie), Cando, Jon (Joan), Jamestown and Jerry (Trudy), Hazel Green, AL; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a sister, Dorothy Wolles, Roseburg, OR.

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Cordelia, and his parents, Chester and Ruth Slusser.
