LRSC Men's Basketball took on Cankdeska Cikana Community College last night in Fort Totten, and despite conceding an early first-half deficit, the Royals came out on top with a 100-81 win.
Diallo Powell led the way for Lake Region State, finishing with more points than any other scorer in the game with 21. Melvin Langstaff, who seems to have rediscovered his scoring touch, finished with 18, followed by teammates Devin Tohm (13), Darnell Landon (12) and Patrick Thomas (10).
Kyle Ironhawk and Kyle Langstaff both finished with 20 points for Cankdeska Cikana. Terry Herman finished with 17.
Lake Region State had been coming off a loss in their most recent game, the team's Mon-Dak opener against Williston State, but a win Sunday night got them back in the win column ahead of what will be the Royals' first home game in over a month, scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
LRSC head coach Joe Kittell seemed pleased with his team's bounce-back effort Sunday night, but he knows there are still a lot of things to tidy up before taking on NDSCS on Wednesday.
"We have to get better every day no matter how well or poorly we play the game before," Kittell said. "We have to have a relentless attitude for improvement."
