The winner of the first event in the Year End Bonspiel was the Owen Sampson team based out of the Lake Region Curling Club. The team consisted of Owen, Jesa Legacie vice skip, Jeff Kitchens second, and Ethan Sampson as lead, who is Owens son and also competed in the National Juniors Event representing North Dakota in Boston a month ago. He was the youngest player. He also started at age 4.
The bonspiel was comprised of 28 teams. Each team had a female team member shooting either third or skipping. Participants came from Grafton, Grand Forks, Bismarck, Devils Lake, Langdon, Harvey, several surrounding towns in the Lake Region. One team came from Dallas, Texas and continues to come year after year. A banquet meal was served on Saturday evening and served 225 people. Participants were in town Friday, Saturday and many still into Sunday depending on their win/loss record.

Although their season is officially over they plan to continue recruiting new people that are looking for some good exercise and a fun clean place to go once, twice, or even three times a week, if desired.
The hope is to add 20 new people again next year. That's the goal.
Membership numbers over 120 members presently.
