Ann Halvorson Holter, 82, of Bismarck, N.D., died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at a Mandan care center. 

Ann Halvorson Holter, 82, of Bismarck, N.D., died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at a Mandan care center.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Ann Halvorson Holter, longtime resident of Devils Lake, N.D, was born March 9, 1930 at McVille, N.D., the daughter of Louis and Eleanor (Moldahl) Halvorson. She was raised and educated in Tolna, N.D. She married Odean Holter on July 11, 1948. They lived in Tolna and Fargo for several years where she was employed by Brownie Bake shop and Knerr Dairy Company. Together they made their home in Grafton, New Rockford, and Larimore before establishing permanent residence in Devils Lake in 1965. Ann took great pride in making their home a welcoming place for friends and family for the next 40 years. She loved to visit. Everyone knew the door was always open and the coffee would be on. Ann was a very active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school, serving on several boards and WELCA, and teaching the Bethel Bible Series.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Rebecca Lodge, and Business and Professional Women. Ann was employed by FW Woolworth and Contel Telephone of Devils Lake before retiring in 1989 .  Ann’s greatest pride and joy was her family. Wherever she went her camera captured new pictures and new stories to share with others. Celebrating her life are daughters Julie (Curtis) Jaeger, Minot, N.D and Ginny (David) Peterson, Bismarck; grandchildren, Sarah Jaeger, Nebraska, Matthew Jaeger, Minnesota, and Kate and Ben Peterson, Bismarck; great grandson, Ashton Dean Jaeger, Minnesota; sisters, Louise (LeRoy) Pederson, Edinberg, N.D., Betty Hildebrand, Fargo, Carol Olson, Texas, Sandra Gomez, California and brother Raleigh Halvorson (Bonnie Swanson) West Fargo, N.D. along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Odean; parents, Louis and Ella Halvorson; brothers, Earnest, Hartley, and Lloyd Halvorson; and sisters, Janice Hovelson and Theresa Eckren; and several aunts and uncles.
