    - Independence Day – aka the Fourth of July – is on Wednesday. It’s an awkward day for a celebration, but we’re celebrating the date after all: July 4, 1776, was when the Declaration of Independence was adopted.
    - Sunday is the anniversary of the date that reports were broadcast that a UFO crash-landed in Roswell, N.M. It happened on July 8, 1947.
    - One of the summer’s most-anticipated movies opens Tuesday – “The Amazing Spider-Man.” The franchise reboot is rated PG-13 and stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Also opening this week are “Savages,” an R film from Oliver Stone; and “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” a documentary about the singer.
    - New albums out Tuesday include ones by Chris Brown, Flo Rida, Asia and more.
