Do you get your medications through the mail?
Do you receive or send important documents that you need to reach their destination within 24 hours?
Do you have a subscription to your local newspaper that you get through the mail?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you will be affected by the proposed changes to the Devils Lake Post Office.
They are proposing to downgrade our services, eliminating the mail processing at Devils Lake and require mail shipped to Grand Forks or Fargo for processing.
That means if you send a birthday card to Grandma in Maddock from Devils Lake, you’ll have to do it a day or so earlier than you ordinarily would. That card will have to go to the processing center at least 92 miles away and then back to Maddock before it is delivered.
All in the name of efficiency or saving money.
Want to let them know what you think about this change they have proposed?
The U.S. Postal Service will hold a public meeting to discuss its proposal to move mail processing operations from the Devils Lake, ND, Customer Service Mail Processing Center into the Grand Forks, ND, Customer Service Mail Processing Center.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Devils Lake High School (Commons Area), 1601 College Dr. N.
Anyone who wishes to submit comments in writing can send them to: MANAGER, CONSUMER AND INDUSTRY CONTACT, PO BOX 7570, SIOUX FALLS, SD 57117-7570. Public comments will be accepted through Jan. 19.
