People are finally realizing that most animals are not at the shelter because of anything they did. Much more often animals come to the shelter because of people problems.

The simple tag on a collar is the best chance for a dog to get home again. Failing that, it helps to have good neighbors.

Try to ease this transition by adding new toys that play into his predator instinct: get him a tower to climb, an indoor seat by a window (with a view of a birdfeeder, even!), or just a little (feathered) toy to chase.

Some people assure me that they already make regular donations. Yep, they mail their checks to Washington DC, New York City, or St. Louis and are happy to help the animals.
