Robert Lorion LaBarre, 73, of Vader, WA, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Providence Centralia Hospital.
A Memorial Mass was held Friday, February 26 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Castle Rock, WA., with Rev. Mel Strazicich, celebrant.
Robert was born February 13, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of HiLorion Frances and Eileen Janet (Reardon) LaBarre. After graduating from Webster High School in Webster, ND, Bob joined the Air Force, serving from 1956-1958 in the 837th Air Police Squadron and was honorably discharged at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina.
After serving our country, Bob went to work for Boeing as a machinist from 1959-1970, the Burlington Northern from 1971-1983. From 1984-1999, he was self employed and worked as a truck dispatcher.
Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He was a REACT member of the CB Club and involved with the Knights of Columbus, was a 4th degree charter member for the Spokane and Castle Rock parishioners. He was also a member of the Eagles and a Masonic Brother of the Seattle Ark Lodge. Family and friends could easily describe him as hardworking, loyal, a faithful friend to all, non-judgemental and a man full of pride when it came to his family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Corlee G. Wright, whom he married on June 6, 1975, in Edmonds, WA,; daughter, Teresa (Dale) Bangs of Satsop; step-daughters, Alida Bart of Stanwood and Karyn Jones of Brier; two brothers, Jim (Ginny) LaBarre of EuClaire, WI and Don LaBarre of Devils Lake, ND; seven sisters, Delores Stromme of Bloomfield, CO, Janet (Jim) Volk of Seattle, LaVonne (Dean) Ummel of Brownell, KS, Carol (Bill) McDonald of Deering, ND, Betty (Gordon) Mathiason of Caldwell, ID, Linda Steinhaus of Fargo, ND, and Lori Denis, also of Fargo; mother, Eileen M. LaBarre of Devils Lake; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lorion LaBarre; sisters, Judy Berg and Marie Olson; step-son, Brad Bart; step-daughter, Sonia Larson; grandson, Nathanal Jones and great-grandson, Jerney Scott.
