Esther C. Lunde, 90, of Devils Lake, ND, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral services for Esther will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Jeff Nicla will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and on Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.
Music will be provided by the Silver Sensations, Dennis Lysne and Sid Bingaman, with Lynda Pearson, organist.
Esther was born on May 26, 1919, in rural Churchs Ferry, ND, the daughter of Gilbert and Bertha (Flatmark) Haugen. Esther was united in marriage to Gordon Lunde on June 16, 1940, in Devils Lake. They established their home in rural Brinsmade, ND, where they farmed. They also lived in Grand Forks, Georgetown and Greenbush, MN, until returning to Devils Lake in 1950. Esther owned and operated a ceramic shop and also was a Tupperware dealer for 20 years. Mr. Lunde died on March 12, 1986.
Esther was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and was very active in the WELCA, Altar Guild and the quilters. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway, Rebekahs, Silver Sensations and a volunteer with the RSVP program.
Esther is survived by her children Darrell Lunde of Minneapolis, MN; Dennis Lunde and his wife, Dianne of Colfax, WI, and Cathie Lunde of Devils Lake; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; sons, Duane Lunde and Gene Lunde; sisters, Norma Hiasson, Beatha Eide, Geline Peterson and Christine Wolhowe.
