Edward Baker Barnes, 87, of Centralia, died Friday, March 30, 2018 at Boone Hospital.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico, Mo. with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, April 2 from
6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ed was born on June 25, 1930, the son of Cyrus C. and Rilla (Correll) Barnes.
On April 9, 1960, he married Nancy Sue Gibbs and she survives at the family home.
Before his marriage, Ed served in the National Guard. He farmed in the Thompson area all his life and was a school bus driver for 30 years for the Centralia School District.
In addition to his wife, Sue, he is survived by two daughters, Teresa Barnes of Centralia and Debra (Terry) Harper of Centralia; four grandchildren, Zane Harper (Brittney McBride), Austin Wells, Chase Harper, and Jackson Wells; sister-in-law, Ada Lee Gibbs of Kansas City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Cyrene (Calvin) Turner and Wilma (V.L.) Sansberry; brother, Robert (Ruby) Barnes; and brother-in-law, Charles Gibbs.
Memorials may be made to the Liberty Christian Church in Thompson in care of Arnold Funeral Home.
