TURTLE LAKE, Wis. (AP) — A Minnesota man is accused of cutting off the thumb of a victim he was trying to rob outside the St. Croix Casino and Hotel in Barron County.

Prosecutors say 29-year-old Deangelo Rucker, of St. Paul, pulled a knife on the man, tried to stab him and take his money as the victim was walking toward the hotel in Turtle Lake last Friday. Court records say a large portion of the man's left thumb was cut off.

Police searched the hotel and found Rucker in one of the rooms. The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram says he's being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
