Marlene Lou McConnell Pewe was born to Walter C. and Luella (Winters) on March 25, 1936 in the small southern Wisconsin town of South Wayne. It was there she grew up as a small child with her mom, dad and two sisters, and where she attended grade and high school. Marlene furthered her career in nursing in Freeport, Illinois. While working as a nurse at the Cooke County Hospital in Chicago, IL, she met her husband of 54 years, Wayne. Later that year they moved to Bottineau, ND where they have resided since.
Marlene worked for a time at the Bottineau Hospital as an RN. She also worked with her husband at the chiropractic office, and for some time at the Norway House.
She was an active member for many years with the Bottineau Study Club, the Republican Party and the Bottineau Community Theatre. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and in the church choir. She was a North Dakota Chiropractic Association Auxiliary member. She donated many hours at the school with her children’s activities and later her grandchildren’s activities as well. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her grandkids excel in sports, music and theatre. She worked on cross stitch and crosswords for many hours, played cards and enjoyed friends and family get togethers over the years…She was enjoying the simple treasures in life.
Marlene is survived by her husband Wayne of Bottineau, son, Mark (Melanie) of Bottineau, daughters, Lori Schmidt (Peter) of Prior Lake MN and Lisa Vad (David), also of Bottineau, twin sisters Judy Jorgenson (Rolyn) of Valders WI, and JoAnne Zimmerman (friend Charlie) of Goodman, WI, her beloved grandchildren, Kaleena Bernstein (Justin), Bottineau, Lauren Vad, Grand Forks, ND, Paige Vad, Bottineau, Marissa Pewe, Moorhead, MN, Logan, Braden and Nolan Pewe, Bottineau, ND, Bailey and Hunter Schmidt, Prior Lake, MN, her best friend Eunice Ellingson, and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
