Tickets are becoming hard to come by for the 26th annual Devils Lake Volunteer Fire Department’s Ice Fishing Tournament, which will be held Jan. 30 on Devils Lake.
That's the latest word from Fire Chief Jim Moe, who has headed up the popular tournament for years.
“There are still some out there,” says Moe. “The town vendors are just about out, but I think there might be some left at the regional vendors.”
Last year 13,500 tickets were sold for the tournament, making it perhaps the biggest such event in the tri-state area.
Moe said he and his cohorts are shooting for similar numbers this year.
Over $170,000 in cash and merchandise prizes will be on the table through big fish caught categories and several drawings.
The prizes range from new vehicles, to furniture, trips, flat screen TV's and many other items.
“It's definitely the biggest in the state,” Moe says of the tournament. “Maybe the biggest in the tri-state area.”
The fire chief said anyone still seeking tickets can contact him at 662-3913 for further information.
