The sign is complete, now, at the memorial portion of Roosevelt Park in Devils Lake near the west viaduct. It reads “In memory of all who served” and bears the insignias of all the branches of the military. Part of the display is a military memorial in honor of the late Balzer Kurtz.
The soaring geese sculpture, also pictured, once stood on the Memorial Building lawn, was donated by Harold Schafer, of Medora fame, in honor of his friends, Mike and June Schwan, who lost their lives in a plane crash on March 15, 1978.
