Pomeroy submits official farewell

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — After 18 years as North Dakota's lone congressman, Democrat Earl Pomeroy has submitted his official goodbye to the U.S. House.
The Forum newspaper says Pomeroy said farewell to Congress, his colleagues and his staff last week in a 400-word statement.The official remarks will be added to the Congressional Record.
Pomeroy's words emphasized optimism for the future. He also thanked North Dakotans for electing him to nine terms.
Pomeroy lost this year to Fargo Republican Rick Berg, who begins his first term in Congress on Jan. 5.
