Three women were injured Monday when the pickup they were in collided with a jackknifed semi near Grafton, ND.
According to a report from the N.D. Highway Patrol, Joseph Gallagher, 35, of Hillsboro, ND, was driving a 2009 Freightliner semi and two trailers northbound on US Highway 81 about four miles south of Grafton at 6:30 p.m. The semi, owned by Transystems, jackknifed on the icy roads, with the truck and first trailer coming to rest in the west ditch and the second trailer partially obstructing the southbound lane.
The driver of the pickup, Melinda Nord, 36, of Grafton, did not see the trailer on the road in time and was unable to stop. The pickup struck the trailer, causing severe damage to the pickup.
Gallagher was uninjured.
All three of the pickups occupants, Nord, Roberta Siegler, 47, and Andrea Welsh, 15, were all taken to Unity Hospital in Grafton with injuries.
Nord and Welsh were treated and released; Siegler was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
The crash remains under investigation by the N.D. Highway Patrol.
