Lynos Keith Swanson, age 80, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Edgewood Memory Care in East Grand Forks, MN.
Lynos Keith Swanson, age 80, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Edgewood Memory Care in East Grand Forks, MN. Lynos was born on Oct. 3, 1937, to Inez (Myhre) and Ed Swanson. He was raised in Lawton, ND. He attended Lawton High School, graduating in 1955. He then served in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He was united in marriage to Margaret Alfredson on Nov. 29, 1961. Together they had four children. In 1963, he started farming in the Lawton area. He was an active member of the community serving as President of the Farmers Union Oil Company for many years and was a member of Lawton Lutheran Church. He was an inventor and passionate about farming for many years, as farmers never truly retire. In 2003, Lynos and Margaret moved to Lakota, ND. In his later years, he enjoyed driving around and inspecting the crops. In the last few years, he struggled with traumatic brain injury dementia, resulting from a farm accident in 1987. He is survived by; his wife, Margaret; daughters, Kari (Brian) Perreault of East Grand Forks, and Susan (Terry) Blagsvedt of Rushford, MN; sons, Keith (Sue) Swanson of Grand Forks, ND, and Steven (Brenna) Swanson of Lawton; nine grandchildren, Luke Perreault, Jenna (Jack) Bixler, Taylor Thompson (finance’ Matt Broman), Nicole Blagsvedt, Brenden and Nicholas Swanson, Jalynn, Levi and Mya Swanson; brother, Andy (Gail) Swanson; sister-in-law, Delores Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Lynos was preceded in death by; his parents, Ed Swanson and Inez Hjelmstad; stepfather, Thor Hjelmstad; brother, Clint Swanson; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Clayton Lichtenbarger; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Mary Alfredson; brother-in-law, Gordon Johnson; and niece, Kristi Christianson. The Funeral Service will be held at Lawton Lutheran Church, Lawton, on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Lawton Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
