Joseph Andrew Eisenzimmer was born April 16, 1926, to Leopold and Johanna (Keller) Eisenzimmer in Devils Lake. The Eisenzimmer family moved to Knox, ND, where Joe graduated from high school. He served his country in WWII along with his four brothers, Ike, Kap, John and Leo Eisenzimmer. Joe continued his patriotic service by being an active member of the American Legion for 60 years. His other community service included military funerals, Towner County Housing Authority Board and the Chamber of Commerce. In 1968, Joe became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cando. He was a loyal and active parishioner experiencing the shepherding of several priests and displayed respect for them all. Joe married Delores Goetz, also of Knox, and they bore four children. Joe and Delores divorced in 1985. Joe managed elevators in Armourdale, ND, and Sarles, ND, until 1968 when he moved his family to Cando to manage the Farmers Elevator. Many of his good friends came about because of his 35 years of Elevator Management. Along with his friends, Joe got to enjoy traveling the country he loved so much. Joe was an avid fisherman and continued this hobby through 2017 with his close buddies. He enjoyed hunting, golf, card games, music and dancing. Joe cherished birthdays and the holidays, instilling family traditions in his children and grandchildren. He worked hard and gave generously to make these events special. In later years, he lovingly included the children and grandchildren of his long-time companion, Julie Jackson. Julie was with Joe at the end, having devoted her time to their companionship and recently, his health needs. Joe is survived by his sister, Louise Purington of Devils Lake, ND; children, Vicki Pederson, Cando, Rick Eisenzimmer (Elaine Anderson) of Hot Springs, SD; grandchildren, Shane (Courtney) Pederson, Tasha Rasmussen of Cando, Casy Eisenzimmer (Daniela Moldoran) of Grand Forks, Joey (Melissa) Eisenzimmer of Seattle, WA, Dominc Eisenzimmer, St Paul, MN, Chris (Marty) Eisenzimmer, Rapid City, SD, Nichole (Jason) Fairchild, Solway, MN, and Rachel Eisenzimmer, Fargo, ND; Joe’s friend, Julie Jackson, her children, Jody and Jody Jackson, Lisa Jackson, Kelsi Jackson, Lori (Ed) Everson; and her grandchildren, MyKalea, Emma, Hattie and Katie.
