Lloyd LeRoy Hursh, of Cando, ND, passed away April 26, 2018. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at the memorial service to be held on Friday, May 4 at 2 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church in Cando. A light lunch and refreshments will be served following the service in the church basement. A Prayer Service will be held Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church in Cando. He was born Feb. 5, 1933, to Lloyd and Margaret (Howard). Lloyd served in the United States Coast Guard from 1953 through 1957. While stationed in Oregon, he met his clam digging sweetheart, Ann Elizabeth (Lindstrom). They married and began their legacy together on Aug. 16, 1953. The family continued to reside in Oregon until 1973 when Lloyd and his family would pursue his lifelong dream of farming on the Hursh farm in his hometown of Cando. Lloyd was a hard working family man with a huge heart. He was known in the community as someone that was willing to help his neighbors and could fix just about anything. There were always sweets around, whether it be freshly baked or the hard candy that could be found in every car, truck and tractor he owned. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Margaret; his siblings, Clayton, Emma, Dorothy, Lila, Esther and Cecile. He is survived by his wife, Ann; his four children, Karla (Terry), Ken (Karin), Kathi and Kristi; 13 grandchildren, Joel (Amanda), Holly, Tia, Hope (Willie), Hanna, Paul, Serra (Robert), Richell, Mac, Kyra, Lowgn, Dana, and Derek (Megan); 16 great-grandchildren, Zane, Braughn, Jadyn, Andy, Derek, Tati, Zavier, Kaitlyn, Josie, Mia, Evan, Celeste, Aden, Sebastian, Sage, Sylas and one due in Oct.; one great-great-grandchild, Paisley. He will be missed by all who loved him. Because of his selfless and giving spirit, Lloyd has chosen to donate his remains to science and research at the University of North Dakota in hopes that he would be able to contribute to the future of medicine.
