Starting March 15th Buckmier will be working two days a week at the city’s newest clinic which opened its doors in December of 2017 in the former Johnson Dental Clinic location at 503 3rd St. NE, across the street from the Devils Lake Post Office. She will help provide the following services at the Sunshine Clinic: •Comprehensive healthcare for all age groups •Physical examinations, health screening and preventative care •Acute illness •Chronic care (diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, arthritis) •Pediatric care (Well Baby and Well Child Care) •Adult and geriatric medicine •Men’s health •Gynecological and Women’s health •Family planning •Sports Physicals •DOT Physicals •Exercise and Nutritional Counseling •Lab testing/EKG •Referrals

She says she has experience with the whole array of health care, but she especially enjoys working with cardiac care. “Like many of us,” she said. “I have had several in my own family who have been diagnosed with heart disease.” Therefore it has become an area of special interest for her. Just in time, the new EKG machine will be arriving at Sunshine Clinic any day, now.

She attended the University of North Dakota becoming a Nurse Practitioner in 2005. After graduating from UND she focused on internal medicine at Altru Health System in Devils Lake and Spirit Lake Health Center in Fort Totten where her focus was family practice. She continues to also work part time at Heart of America Johnson Clinic in Maddock where she has been employed since June of 2016.

She and husband, Donnie, farm near Maddock. Buckmier has two grown step daughters, Alexis (Adam) Windjue and Jamie Buckmier, all of Devils Lake. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, being outside with her dog and helping hubby on the farm wherever she can.

“I’m mostly a bookkeeper for him,” she adds. “But I try to be helpful.”

The hours for the clinic are from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Mondays - Thursdays, Fridays 8 a.m to 1 p.m. If you are interested in registering, call 701-662-4300.
