Their hard work has paid off and a plan has been decided upon.

At last week’s meeting of the Devils Lake School Board the revised plans, complete with artist’s renderings, were submitted for approval.

The new plans reduced the original floor plan considerably in hopes of reducing the cost of construction while still providing what the school needs.

The board approved the plans, which reduced both the square footage of the new construction and the amount of the school’s area that would need remodeling. Now that the plans have been approved, the Consolidated Construction Company will begin a cost estimate of the project in preparation for the next steps which ultimately will mean bringing the project once again as a bond issue to a vote of the people of the school district.

An earlier plan for a much larger project did not receive the 60 percent of voters’ support needed to pass on March 21, 2017. Privratsky and the school board hope that the new concept will show sufficient savings while proving the need for the project’s construction for the school’s needs.
