Avis Jeanette Aanstad, 94, of Cando, ND, formerly of Hampden, ND, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the Towner County Living Center in Cando.
Avis Jeanette Aanstad, 94, of Cando, ND, formerly of Hampden, ND, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the Towner County Living Center in Cando. Services will be held on Friday, October 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando with Rev. Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando. Burial will be in Storlie Cemetery, Hampden. Casket bearers will be Brian Aanstad, Joel Aanstad, Bradley Aanstad, Purnell Aanstad, Luke Aanstad and Robert Aanstad. Music will be provided by Peggy Hendrickson. Avis was born on August 15, 1923, to Jonas Sivert Aanstad and Anna Kristine (Stenstad) Aanstad in Devils Lake, ND. Avis grew-up and attended school in Hampden and graduated from Hampden High School. She attended business college and worked at the bank in Edmore, ND, from 1944-1951. Avis was diagnosed with MS and entered the nursing home in Cando on January 24, 1966, and continued to live their until her passing. Avis was an active participant at Towner County Living Center. She enjoyed doing crafts and activities at the Living Center. She greeted guests and new residents and became friends with many people over the years. Avis was Resident Council President for many years. She took the church attendance, the prayer list and passed around cards that needed to be signed. Avis received special recognition at the Living Centers 25th and 50th anniversary celebrations. This was for being a resident of the Living Center for 25 and 50 years and the resident that lived there the most years. Avis wanted to let everyone know that the Living Center was a very nice place to stay and everyone was good to her. Avis is survived by her brother, Morris (Rena) Aanstad of Devils Lake; niece, Maureen Meyer of Lonsdale, MN; and nephews, Joel (Pam) Aanstad of Fargo, ND, Brian (Michelle) Aanstad of Hampden, ND, Purnell Aanstad of Wahpeton, ND, Brad Aanstad (Patti Peterson) of St Cloud, MN, many great-nieces and nephews and great-great- nieces and nephews. Avis is also survived by her special friend, Darla Moore, of Cando, ND. Avis was preceded in death by her parents. Online guestbook is available at www.dunnigandix.com.
