After starting the season 1-3, the DL Firebirds (7-3) volleyball team have put together a six game winning streak after beating the Grand Forks Roughriders (4-7) on Thursday, Sept. 7 in Devils Lake.

Traditionally GF is a strong program that has been difficult to beat over the years.
“It’s been a very, very, very, long time,” Head Coach Carla Freschette said in response to the last time DL has beat GF.

“I think that coming off our win on Tuesday, which was an away game and a hard game to win, we had a lot of fire and we had a great crowd that really kept us going, especially in those low moments. They played intense and you can see that they want to win.”

The Firebirds play Fargo South (3-7) at home on Tuesday, Sept 12.

Match leaders for the Firebirds were:
Digs: Abby Johnson 15
Assists: Taylor Windjue 14
Kills: Kyleigh Toso 8
Aces: Chiara Olson 2
