The Rev. Philip James Vanderlin, OSB, formerly of Devils Lake, returned to the United States after 50 years of missionary work in Bogota, Colombia, South America.

The Rev. Philip James Vanderlin, OSB, formerly of Devils Lake, returned to the United States after 50 years of missionary work in Bogota, Colombia, South America.

Fr. Vanderlin is a graduate of St. Mary's Academy and a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He graduated from St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn., and the School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Indiana.

Fr. Vanderlin is a member of Assumption Abbey in Richardton, ND. where he made vows as a Benedictine in 1964. He was with a team of monks who built two schools and a monastery in Bogota.
He will be serving Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jackson Hole, Wy., beginning Sept. 1.  His ministry will be with the Hispanic people in that area.  

Fr. Vanderlin is the son of the late Frank and Ione Vanderlin.
