This week high school football fields from around the state have been starting to see players and coaches begin practicing for the upcoming 2017 season. Among those are Lake Region teams, the Devils Lake Firebirds and the Four Winds Indians.
DL Head Coach Jake Wateland is excited about the upcoming season and is looking forward to “having the best fan support” in North Dakota.
The Firebirds began their practices on Wednesday, Aug. 9, and the first varsity game is on Friday, Aug. 25, at Watford City.
FW Head Coach, Mark Bishop, said that practices are going well so far this week. The fifth/sixth grade team, seventh-eighth grade team and varsity football team began practicing on Monday, Aug. 7.
The varsity has their first game on Aug. 18 at Dunseith.
