It was an amazing competition among some of the best anglers in ND.
Matt Ristow and John Anderson clinched the championship win at the Aim Weekend Walleye Series Mercury Marine North Dakota State Division Championship on Aug. 4 - 5 at Woodland Resort.
They dominated the pack on day one and every team was looking to take their place on the final day. They were able to hold on to their lead by about an inch. The average size fish they caught during the tournament was around 5.25 pounds. If their average had been just a few ounces less or one of their average fish throughout the tournament had been one inch less, they wouldn’t have finished first. They had consistency on both days and finished with a total weight of 53.30 lbs.
Second place went to the father son team of Jacob Denning and Don Denning. Their total weight was 52.54 lbs.
It was an amazing competition among some of the best anglers in ND and happened to be at a location and on a body of water that is unparalleled in the upper Midwest.
