Troy Larocque has been charged with two counts of simple assault on a peace officer, both C felonies.

Troy Larocque, 23, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that he fought with a Devils Lake police officer during an altercation.

In February, a fight involving several people took place at  Thirsty’s Bar in downtown Devils Lake when, according to employees working at the time, Larocque instigated a brawl.

After Larocque was removed from the bar, officers allegedly worked to restrain him. When they attempted to wrangle Larocque into a squad car, he allegedly pushed at least one officer into a storefront window, breaking it. He then proceeded to kick officers in the chest until he was eventually subdued.

Larocque has been charged with two counts of simple assault on a peace officer, both C felonies. He’s also charged with preventing arrest and disorderly conduct. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
