The Firebirds play their next home game April 27.

Though the Devils Lake High School softball team hung tough for the first six innings against Fargo Davies Tuesday, the Eagles took over late to come away from the Sports Complex with a 9-3 victory.

The Firebirds got on the board early, putting up two runs in the bottom of the first. They would struggle to score after that, putting up a run in their half of the fourth to pull within one run of the Eagles at 4-3.

Olivia Light had a solid outing for the Firebirds, holding the Eagles in check for the most part until their five-run sixth inning.

The Firebirds are now 1-4 on the season, 1-1 at home. The team is heading to Fargo for a doubleheader against Fargo North Thursday. Game one gets underway at 4:30. The Firebirds play their next home game April 27.
