Joe Mertens wants the community to know that he and his business will be ready for Spring 2017 in spite of the fire that destroyed his building in the city’s Industrial Park last week.

He said that sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. Thursday, March 9 fire consumed his new building west of the city of Devils Lake in the Industrial Park section of town.

The State Fire Marshall has visited the site and has yet to determine what caused the fire, according to Mertens.

He lost all his equipment and tools, plus an extensive farm toy collection he had been putting together most of his life.

Mertens started his business in 2004 with his son, a push mower and an old riding lawn mower.
“I’m still in business and will be ready by April 5 to fulfill all my obligations,” Mertens said.

He is presently looking for a temporary building to house his operation but says he will definitely rebuild.
