It was reported at Monday’s City Commission meeting that the building that once housed Devils Lake Kids daycare is drawing little interest on the real estate market.
The building, which has been unoccupied for about two years, is currently listed at $195K. City assessor Gary Martinson reported that there have been no showings of the building, which he predicted would need significant remodeling to be feasible for use by most parties who may be interested in purchasing it.
Mayor Richard Johnson said that it is “not a good sign” that the building is getting little interest on the market while also mentioning that the building seems to be deteriorating somewhat visually as it remains unoccupied.
However, Martinson reported that the building is structurally sound and in working order.
The mayor also floated the idea of putting the building up for bid, but no decision was made on the issue at Monday’s meeting.
