Pack 28 Cub Scouts of Devils Lake held their annuall pinewood Derby on Saturday March 26 at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Devils Lake.
This is one of the many events Pack 28 Cub Scouts holds during the Scouting season which runs from August through July.
The pinewood derby is a racing event for Cub Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America.
Cub Scouts, with the help of parents, build their own cars from wood. Each pack provides each scout with an official BSA pinewood derby kit which includes a block of pine, plastic wheels and metal axles. From this kit the scouts design the car of their choice and prepare for race day.
Each year the scouts must build a new car and each year they get better an better. It is fun to see the creativity that goes into all of the derby cars and exciting to watch the boys excitement during the race.
Any boy in grades 1-5 is welcome to join the Cub Scouts and join the fun. For more information contact Carla Bjornson at 665-3177.
