Thelma Olivia Thompson was born March 25, 1927 in Devils Lake to Oleus and Thea (Oium) Krokum. She was raised on a farm on the west shore of Six Mile Bay and attended rural country schools.  She attended high school in Devils Lake graduating in 1944. She helped on the family farm until her marriage to Bennie W. Thompson on October 27, 1954. They lived on the farm Bennie had purchased from Clyde Rush in Riggin Township.  She worked on the farm with Bennie while raising two sons, Kim and Kevin.  Thelma was a Sunday school teacher at Antiochia Lutheran church and sang in the choir at Trinity Free Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines, Pelican Homemakers Club and Ladies Aid.  Thelma was very creative and made countless quilts, ceramics and hot pad holders for friends and family.  She loved visiting with people, always taking an interest in others’ lives, and had a huge soft spot for animals, especially dogs.  She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and twin great granddaughters.  Her quick wit and sassy personality will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two sons, Kim and Kevin (Robyn) Thompson; five grandchildren, Olivia, Davis (Megan) Tad, Katrece (Jon) and Miriah; two sister-in-laws, Marjorie Krokum and Janice Krokum.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Ethel and Anna; and her three brothers, Orville, Marvin and Laurence.
