  • The jury trail of a Kansas City attorney accused of murdering her father and his longtime girlfriend at his home in Sunrise Beach in 2010 has been set for early next year in Laclede County.
The trial date for Susan Elizabeth “Liz” Van Note was set late last week. Her case will be heard by a jury beginning on Feb. 17, 2015. Van Note is charged with two counts of murder in the stabbing and shooting deaths of her father, William, 67, and Sharon Dickson, 59, in October 2010.
Dickson's body was found in the home by deputies with the Camden County Sheriff's Department after William Van Note managed to call 911. He died from his injuries within days of the incident after being removed from life support.
Van Note was originally charged with second degree murder and forgery in connection with his death. Van Note is accused of forging power of attorney documents to have her father taken off life support. She also faces a count of forgery.
The case was moved to Laclede County on a change of venue.
