  • Where are they now? Graduate of St. Mary’s Academy honored for lifetime achievement

  • Former resident of Devils Lake, N.D., and graduate of St Mary’s Academy (1956), Edward (Ted) J. Mullen, son of the late Edward and Leona Mullen was honored for his lifetime achievement in social research by the European Social Research community at the Free University of Bolzano, Bozen-Bolzano, Italy.

  • Former resident of Devils Lake, N.D., and graduate of St Mary’s Academy (1956), Edward (Ted) J. Mullen, son of the late Edward and Leona Mullen was honored for his lifetime achievement in social research by the European Social Research community at the Free University of Bolzano, Bozen-Bolzano, Italy.  
    “I think that the solid grounding I received in DL was so important and I hope that kids growing up in DL can understand the importance of solid foundations for future achievements. The Mercy nuns were so instrumental in my success,” said Mullen.
    Mullen, a PhD, is the Willma and Albert Musher Professor Emeritus, at Columbia University. He was honored at the annual meeting of the European Inter-Centre Network for the Evaluation of Social Work Practice on April 13, 2014 when the network celebrated its 15 years of existence by recognizing the lifetime achievement of its founder, Dr. Edward Joseph Mullen.
    The event was held at The Free University of Bolzano, Bozen-Bolzano-Eurac, Italy.
    He subsequently delivered a keynote lecture at the Fourth European Conference for Social Work Research hosted by the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano – Eurac, Bolzano, Italy April 16, 2014. His lecture was titled “The Concept of ‘Evidence’ in the Context of Evidence-based Policy and Practice. Dr. Mullen is Editor-in-Chief, Oxford University Press Bibliographies in Social Work which is an online bibliographic resource recently launched by Oxford University Press.
