  • John Henry Gessner, 72, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 in the care of Hospice and his loving family in Kansas City, Kan.

  • John Henry Gessner, 72, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 in the care of Hospice and his loving family in Kansas City, Kan.
    A visitation will be held Sunday,  March 30 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Chapel-Hill-Butler Funeral Home.
    The graveside service will be Monday, March 31 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
    Henry was born March 1, 1942 to Harold and Charlotte (Devier) Gessner in Devils Lake, N.D. He attended grade school in Penn, N.D. and graduated from Devils Lake Central in the class of 1960. Henry worked in road construction until his retirement. He then had a lawn service until the time of his death.
    He married Patricia Dinger in September of 1964. Together, they had three children, Shawn, Stefanie and Shane
    Henry enjoyed gardening, cooking and caring for his lawn.
    He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Shawn, Shane (Cami); daughter, Stefanie (Scott); grandchildren, Christopher, Katlin, Kiley, Taylor, Halie, Aiden and an expected grandchild; brother, Bernard, (Judy); sister, Mary Lou (Gerald Vanderlin) Margo (Richard) VanLeur, Charlotte (Jamie) Hatlestad, Charlene (Allen) Gault; many nieces and nephews
    He was preceded in death by his parents and his special pet, Lil' Bits.
