Harold Murl, son of Murl and Nellie (Vote) Baker was born on October 5, 1924 on the farm near Crocus, ND. He attended Crocus #1 and Crocus #2 schools and farmed alongside his Dad through the years.
Harold was united in marriage to I. Drucilla Snavely on November 15, 1945 at Rock Lake, N.D. Harold and Drucilla were getting ready to celebrate their 68th Wedding Anniversary. After their marriage, Harold continued to farm with his Dad and took over the farming operation when his Dad was no longer able. Harold also worked for his future father-in-law as a farm laborer in the early years.
While farming, Harold and Drucilla lived in the Egeland and Cando areas and after retiring in 1982 they moved to Devils Lake. Harold then worked for Lake Region Livestock, hauling cattle, for over 14 years. After retirement, he continued to raise cattle. He loved the land, the ranch, the wide open spaces and was a good steward of the blessings bestowed upon him.
When Harold took time away from farming and work, he enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinocle and visiting with his family and many dear friends.
Harold is survived by his wife, Drucilla of Devils Lake; children, Rex Baker and his wife, Joyce and Glenna Jacobson all of Devils Lake and Becky and her husband, Timothy Krueger of Egeland; six grandchildren; step son, Paul Atherton and his wife, Paulette and their three children; brother, Gary (Joyce) Baker of Pasco, WA; sister-in-law Helen Grande; many nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
