The Lake Region State College Lady Royals improved to 8-0 on the season over the weekend with wins over Jamestown JV and Fort Berthold Community College.
The Lady Royals faced Jamestown JV for the second time this season and got off to a slow start.
The lady Jimmies looked good early and took a 9-2 lead four minutes into the first half.
LRSC fought back midway through the half when Ashley Knecht hit a jumper to give the Lady Royals a 14-9 lead midway through the half.
Lake Region looked like a whole different team in the last 10 minutes of the first half and took a 46-28 lead going into halftime.
The Lady Royals didn’t let up and dominated in the second half.
The best play of the second half was an impressive pass from Becca Scherr to Jordyn Kirk for an easy bucket to give the Royals a 56-33 lead with 16 minutes remaining in the half.
The Lady Royals led by as many as 27 at one point and came away with the 84-65 win.
Leading the way for the Lady Royals was My’Kale French who finished with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Other players with a big game were Jordyn Kirk (15 pts, four steals, three rebounds) and Sarah Schafer (14 pts, three rebounds, three assists).
“It was a poor start but we did get going at about the eight minute mark of the first half and shot better,” said head coach Duane Schwab.
Saturday night’s game was the exact opposite of Friday night’s game.
The Lady Royals got off to a fast start and never looked back.
Leslie Hariston made three of the first five buckets to give the Lady Royals an early 10-0 lead.
My’Kale French continued the scoring with a three pointer to extend the lead to 19-6 with 10:45 to go in the first half.
French continued her impressive play with a nice breakaway pass to Schafer to give Lake Region a 30-12 lead.
The Lady Royals led 36-18 at the half.
The second half was similar to the first with the Lady Royals making some impressive shots.
French connected on a 15 footer from the elbow to put the Lady Royals up 50-28 with 12:15 to go.
Scherr connected on a three pointer of her own less than two minutes later to extend the lead to 55-33.
The final minutes of the game saw Sarah Schafer connect on an easy layup from a nice pass from Jonie Wipf.

“We were tired and it was kind of a sloppy game,” said Schwab.
Leading the way for the Lady Royals was Sarah Schafer with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists; Sara Schwanke with 12 points three rebounds, and My’Kale French who had 10 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
The Lady Royals won’t return home until 2014 when they host NDSCS on Jan. 15.
Lake Region will put their undefeated streak on the line this week when they travel to Miles City, MT to take on Miles City CC on Nov, 22 and Central Wyoming CC on Nov. 23.
