Senior post Channing Reed signs with Minot State, and Devils Lake senior Spencer Halvorson announces verbal commitment to LRSC.
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – Lake Region State men’s basketball head coach Joe Kittell announced Wednesday, Nov. 13, the commitment of Spencer Halvorson to attend school and play basketball beginning fall 2014. The official Letter of Intent however, cannot be signed until April 2014.
“We are thrilled to have Spencer decide to join our program. We focused on Spencer early in our recruitment for his character, work ethic, and passion for the game.” Kittell said.
Spencer, a 6’2 senior at Devils Lake High School, is two year started who averaged 6.4 point, 2.9 rebound, and hit 40 threes last season for DLHS. He is also 21 three pointer shy of being the All-time recorded holder in and 177 points away this year from cracking the top 20 All-Time scorers at DLHS.
“Spencer has proven himself each year with his hard work and I am very proud and excited to watch him continue his basketball career. I know he will continue to be successful," says Devils Lake High School head boys basketball coach Derek Gathman.
“I have grown up watching the Royals and to finally be one is very exciting for my family and I,“ Halvorson said.
Spencer is the son of Lloyd and Cindy Halvorson.
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – Channing Reed announced Wednesday, Nov. 13 that he has officially signed an NCAA Division II Letter of Intent with Minot State University to play basketball and continue his education beginning in the fall 2014.
“I’m so excited that Channing has decided to play for an upcoming NCAA Division II program like Minot State. Channing is an ideal student-athlete and I know Coach Murken, Minot St, and the community will appreciate all he brings to the table.” Kittell said.
Reed, a 6’7 sophomore from St. Johns, is averaging 8 points and 5 rebounds a game for Lake Region this season and has been intricate part to the Royals 4-1 start.
“I’m excited to live out my college basketball career at Minot State University,” Reed said.
Channing is the son of Denise Malaterre and Ray Reed.
