The Devils Lake Lady Firebirds were ousted during senior night against the Grand Forks Red River Rough Riders in three sets (25-12), (25-14), (25-11).
The first game saw the Riders take a big lead from which they never looked back. The Riders looked poised from the beginning and took the first set 25-12.
The Riders took an early 10-5 lead in the second game of the night. The Lady Firebirds made a comeback effort late to cut the lead to 22-14 but the Riders went on to win the next three points to take the second set 25-14.
Red River took a 4-1 lead in the third game which looked like it was going to be a much more competitive set. The Lady Firebirds kept the lead at three midway through the set and trailed 10-7.

This was as close as the set came as the Riders went on to win 15 of the next 19 points to win the third set 25-11.
“It was an ugly game for us and we were fundamentally weak,” said head coach Warren Michael.
The Lady Firebirds regular season is now officially finished and a playoff matchup will be determined later this week.
